Video Marketing for the "New" Economy

THREE VIDEO MARKETING TIPS FOR THE “NEW” ECONOMY

Notice I didn’t say “down” economy, or recession or any of the other words meant to scare us that the media jams down our throats a thousand times a day. It’s a “new” economy. Different. But with a new economy come new challenges and opportunities. So it’s clearly a time to change our approaches.

Marketing directors, communications officers, agency creative reps and anyone else in the promotions business -- listen up for some inside advice. When it comes to video production, there are the three simple things that we at On Motion Media are telling all of our clients about promoting their businesses (tips you should follow too):

Make It Personal. If you are the CEO, get out from behind your desk or out of the boardroom and deliver the messaging yourself. Unfortunately, there is air of distrust and fear running rampant in the marketplace. Your video production must show the “big guy or gal” as he or she delivers the company’s messaging. Seeing is believing. Strive to over communicate to your employees and to your customers. Use the Web. This is a no-brainer. Get your video on the web and in as many places as possible. You should all have your own YouTube accounts. Send the links to as many people as possible. It’s free and it’s the first place people will look when they are checking out your company. Make It Social. Sorry, I can’t say it enough. YouTube, Flickr, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Vimeo – they’re all about interaction. It’s not just about putting a video on the web and walking away. It’s about “sharing” your video on the web. Let people know what you are thinking. AND getting feedback. One-way communication is a thing of the past. Better get on board. Everyone is doing it. You should too.
